#103 new feature

automatic sensitivity correction of displayed raw data

Reported by: butler@… Owned by: srkline

Component: SANS Reduction Keywords:
Cc: Blocking:

Often we use quick looks (i vs q) on raw to see what is going on. Of course we can create temporary protocols to reduce, but something that could be done straightforwardly it would seem is to automatically correct of sensitivity on the display (or have a button option?) since it is one file for the entire cycle. This would be particularly useful now on NG3 while we try to figure out how to adjust the sensitivy gains correctly.

Could be somewhat simple to implement - use the "STO" folder as the folder that houses the result of a "just DIV" protocol. Doing it this way would allow the detector solid angle corrections to be done at the same time. A simple checkbox visible only on RAW or STO (or RAW.DIV) would allow this to be done. None of the correction steps should be allowed to do this.

One thing that it would break is the ability to scroll through files. The right/left arrow buttons are only drawn and active if "RAW" is the display type. May want to define some folder other than "STO" for the result, and one that has the rights for the scroll arrows "RAW.DIV", perhaps.

If solid angle corrections are not necessary, then an extra step could be performed on the root:RAW:linear_data before display (of course an unadultered copy must be kept)

It may be easy to add a extra panel that can be brought up through the Reduction Tab that gives the user some control over these things - like correcting for DIV, turning on/off transmission, efficiency corrections, etc.

As the panel is closed, there should be a warning if non-default settings have been chosen.

If DIV is applied to the RAW data, what effect will this have for reduction?

This may be helpful in some situations - but won't do everything needed in the case of a short SDD - where the solid angle corrections need to be done to get a "real" look at the data. Better to do a "full" reduction on the fly ( maybe with a fit at the end?). More thought needs to go into this - maybe NICE can do all of the work...
